# Day Counter vs egg

The clearest difference is rating: Day Counter at 4.7 against egg's 4.0. Day Counter also leads on ratings volume (462 vs 1). egg's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks) and review sentiment (100% vs 90%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Day Counter sells 13 one-off in-app purchases and egg sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Day Counter holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Day Counter has 462 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of Day Counter's written reviews are positive against 100% of egg's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Day Counter ships an update every 6 weeks, egg weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
