# Backdrops vs Dockland

The clearest difference is update cadence: Dockland at every 2 days against Backdrops's every 2 months. Backdrops's advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 135) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backdrops sells 16 one-off in-app purchases and Dockland sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backdrops holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backdrops has 1.6K ratings behind it against 135, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Backdrops's written reviews are positive against 67% of Dockland's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backdrops ships an update every 2 months, Dockland every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
