# Backdrops vs Tapet

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Backdrops at 60% against Tapet's 0%. Backdrops also leads on rating (4.7 vs 1.8) and ratings volume (1.6K vs 5). Tapet's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backdrops sells 13 one-off in-app purchases and Tapet sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backdrops holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 1.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backdrops has 1.6K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 60% of Backdrops's written reviews are positive against 0% of Tapet's.

Backdrops ships an update every 2 months, Tapet every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
