# Backdrops vs Backdrop

Backdrops and Backdrop both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Backdrop's written reviews are positive against 60% of Backdrops's. Backdrop also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months). Backdrops's advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 5) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backdrops sells 13 one-off in-app purchases and Backdrop sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Backdrops against 4.6 for Backdrop. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backdrops has 1.6K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 60% of Backdrops's written reviews are positive against 100% of Backdrop's.

Backdrops ships an update every 2 months, Backdrop every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
