# ConnectionOpen vs Translator・Photo Translator

The clearest difference is rating: ConnectionOpen at 5.0 against Translator・Photo Translator's 4.3. ConnectionOpen also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). Translator・Photo Translator's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ConnectionOpen sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $24.99 per month and Translator・Photo Translator sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ConnectionOpen holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Translator・Photo Translator has 31 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ConnectionOpen ships an update every 2 months, Translator・Photo Translator every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
