# Hooked TV vs Self Made TV

The clearest difference is rating: Hooked TV at 4.8 against Self Made TV's 4.0. Hooked TV also leads on ratings volume (12K vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Self Made TV's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hooked TV sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Self Made TV sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hooked TV holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hooked TV has 12K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hooked TV ships an update every 3 weeks, Self Made TV every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
