# Plexamp vs Amperfy Music

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Amperfy Music at none against Plexamp's 3. Amperfy Music also leads on review sentiment (87% vs 75%). Plexamp's advantage is ratings volume (10K vs 148) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Plexamp sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Amperfy Music asks for nothing beyond the download.

Plexamp holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Plexamp has 10K ratings behind it against 148, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Plexamp's written reviews are positive against 87% of Amperfy Music's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Plexamp ships an update every 2 weeks, Amperfy Music every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
