# ElectricNOW vs Unexpected TV

The clearest difference is monetization model: ElectricNOW at free with in-app purchases against Unexpected TV's subscription. ElectricNOW also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ElectricNOW sells 14 one-off in-app purchases and Unexpected TV sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ElectricNOW holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 997 and 366 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of ElectricNOW's written reviews are positive against 77% of Unexpected TV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ElectricNOW ships an update every 2 months, Unexpected TV every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
