# Matter vs NewsLight

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: NewsLight at none against Matter's 21. NewsLight also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (18.2 vs 26.0). Matter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 1). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Matter sells 20 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. NewsLight asks for nothing beyond the download.

NewsLight holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Matter has 1.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Matter ships an update weekly, NewsLight every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
