# SimpliVPN vs VP.NET VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: SimpliVPN at free with in-app purchases against VP.NET VPN's subscription. SimpliVPN also leads on rating (4.4 vs 4.2). VP.NET VPN's advantage is ratings volume (145 vs 7) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SimpliVPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and VP.NET VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SimpliVPN holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VP.NET VPN has 145 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SimpliVPN ships an update every 2 weeks, VP.NET VPN every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
