# CompTIA Security+ Exam Prep vs Skillweed Academy

The clearest difference is ads: Skillweed Academy at none against CompTIA Security+ Exam Prep's shown. Skillweed Academy also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). CompTIA Security+ Exam Prep's advantage is ratings volume (6.6K vs 2) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CompTIA Security+ Exam Prep sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Skillweed Academy sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for CompTIA Security+ Exam Prep against 5.0 for Skillweed Academy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CompTIA Security+ Exam Prep has 6.6K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

CompTIA Security+ Exam Prep ships an update every 3 weeks, Skillweed Academy every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
