# wpm vs FlipType

The clearest difference is update cadence: FlipType at every 3 weeks against wpm's every 5 months. FlipType also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 82%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). wpm's advantage is ratings volume (48 vs 9). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for wpm against 4.6 for FlipType. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: wpm has 48 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 82% of wpm's written reviews are positive against 100% of FlipType's.

wpm ships an update every 5 months, FlipType every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
