# Julia Lyrics vs Songwriting Notebook

The clearest difference is rating: Songwriting Notebook at 3.2 against Julia Lyrics's 2.8. Julia Lyrics's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 50%). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Julia Lyrics sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Songwriting Notebook sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Songwriting Notebook holds the better App Store score, 3.2 against 2.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 6 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Julia Lyrics's written reviews are positive against 50% of Songwriting Notebook's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Julia Lyrics ships an update every 6 weeks, Songwriting Notebook every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
