# BreakTime vs Next Break

The clearest difference is update cadence: Next Break at fortnightly against BreakTime's every 3 months. Next Break also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). BreakTime's advantage is ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BreakTime sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Next Break sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Next Break holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BreakTime has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

BreakTime ships an update every 3 months, Next Break fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
