# Mindgem vs Shantideva

The clearest difference is ads: Shantideva at none against Mindgem's shown. Shantideva also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 88%) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Mindgem's advantage is update cadence (every 4 months vs every 20 months) and ratings volume (24 vs 4). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Mindgem against 5.0 for Shantideva. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mindgem has 24 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 88% of Mindgem's written reviews are positive against 100% of Shantideva's.

Mindgem ships an update every 4 months, Shantideva every 20 months. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
