# ForFree vs GiveInstead

The clearest difference is rating: GiveInstead at 5.0 against ForFree's 3.2. ForFree's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (22 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

GiveInstead holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ForFree has 22 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ForFree ships an update every 10 days, GiveInstead every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
