# West Academic Audio vs NOSSCR

The clearest difference is monetization model: NOSSCR at free against West Academic Audio's subscription. NOSSCR also leads on update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). West Academic Audio's advantage is ratings volume (445 vs 5). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

NOSSCR holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: West Academic Audio has 445 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

West Academic Audio ships an update every 2 months, NOSSCR every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
