# Digital Clock vs StandBy Widget & Always On

Digital Clock and StandBy Widget & Always On both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 51% of Digital Clock's written reviews are positive against 17% of StandBy Widget & Always On's. Digital Clock also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 32 months) and ratings volume (1.3K vs 130). StandBy Widget & Always On's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Digital Clock sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and StandBy Widget & Always On sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

StandBy Widget & Always On holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Digital Clock has 1.3K ratings behind it against 130, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 51% of Digital Clock's written reviews are positive against 17% of StandBy Widget & Always On's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Digital Clock ships an update every 3 weeks, StandBy Widget & Always On every 32 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
