# NotePlan vs Walling

The clearest difference is monetization model: Walling at free with in-app purchases against NotePlan's subscription. Walling also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs monthly) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). NotePlan's advantage is review sentiment (85% vs 63%) and ratings volume (1.5K vs 323). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NotePlan sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Walling sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $59.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for NotePlan against 4.7 for Walling. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.5K and 323 respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 85% of NotePlan's written reviews are positive against 63% of Walling's.

NotePlan ships an update monthly, Walling every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
