# Crash Course vs Functional Groups

Crash Course and Functional Groups both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Functional Groups's written reviews are positive against 76% of Crash Course's. Crash Course's advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 21). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Crash Course sells 13 one-off in-app purchases and Functional Groups sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Crash Course against 4.9 for Functional Groups. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Crash Course has 1.6K ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 76% of Crash Course's written reviews are positive against 100% of Functional Groups's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
