# PACIFICPOINTS vs gu

The clearest difference is rating: PACIFICPOINTS at 3.6 against gu's 2.5. PACIFICPOINTS also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 8 months). gu's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PACIFICPOINTS holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 2.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 66 and 23 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of PACIFICPOINTS's written reviews are positive against 27% of gu's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PACIFICPOINTS ships an update monthly, gu every 8 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
