# Fidchell vs Chess Remix

The clearest difference is rating: Chess Remix at 4.4 against Fidchell's 4.1. Chess Remix also leads on ratings volume (115 vs 7) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). Fidchell's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fidchell sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Chess Remix sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chess Remix holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess Remix has 115 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Fidchell's written reviews are positive against 76% of Chess Remix's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Fidchell ships an update every 3 months, Chess Remix monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
