# BVB vs DFB Play

The clearest difference is review sentiment: BVB at 89% against DFB Play's 0%. BVB also leads on rating (4.8 vs 1.9) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). DFB Play's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BVB holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 1.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BVB has 558 ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 89% of BVB's written reviews are positive against 0% of DFB Play's.

BVB ships an update fortnightly, DFB Play every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
