# Simple Calendar vs Basic Calendar

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Simple Calendar at 60% against Basic Calendar's 0%. Simple Calendar also leads on ratings volume (74 vs 5). Basic Calendar's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.8 vs 4.4). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simple Calendar sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Basic Calendar sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Basic Calendar holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simple Calendar has 74 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Simple Calendar's written reviews are positive against 0% of Basic Calendar's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Simple Calendar ships an update every 3 weeks, Basic Calendar every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
