# mimi vs Journal

The clearest difference is update cadence: Journal at every 4 days against mimi's monthly. mimi's advantage is ratings volume (6.5K vs 5) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. mimi sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Journal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Journal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: mimi has 6.5K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

mimi ships an update monthly, Journal every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
