# Paycheck vs FreePaystub Maker

The clearest difference is monetization model: FreePaystub Maker at free against Paycheck's free with in-app purchases. FreePaystub Maker also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Paycheck's advantage is ratings volume (3.7K vs 2). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Paycheck against 5.0 for FreePaystub Maker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Paycheck has 3.7K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Paycheck ships an update every 2 months, FreePaystub Maker every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
