# Proton Drive vs SplitterUp

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SplitterUp at 100% against Proton Drive's 37%. SplitterUp also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.1) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Proton Drive's advantage is ratings volume (1.2K vs 17). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Drive sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and SplitterUp sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SplitterUp holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Drive has 1.2K ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 37% of Proton Drive's written reviews are positive against 100% of SplitterUp's.

Proton Drive ships an update fortnightly, SplitterUp every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
