# Proton Drive vs Hephaistos

The clearest difference is update cadence: Hephaistos at every 2 days against Proton Drive's fortnightly. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Drive sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Hephaistos sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Proton Drive ships an update fortnightly, Hephaistos every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
