# PlantWave vs Sounds True

The clearest difference is review sentiment: PlantWave at 65% against Sounds True's 26%. Sounds True's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and rating (4.6 vs 4.2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PlantWave sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Sounds True sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sounds True holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sounds True has 1.2K ratings behind it against 59, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of PlantWave's written reviews are positive against 26% of Sounds True's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PlantWave ships an update every 5 weeks, Sounds True every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
