# PlantWave vs High Frequency Highway

The clearest difference is monetization model: High Frequency Highway at free with in-app purchases against PlantWave's subscription. High Frequency Highway also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.2) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). PlantWave's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PlantWave sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and High Frequency Highway sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

High Frequency Highway holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: High Frequency Highway has 626 ratings behind it against 59, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 65% and 64% positive.

PlantWave ships an update every 5 weeks, High Frequency Highway every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
