# Black dice vs Dice

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Dice at none against Black dice's 3. Dice also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (68 vs 3). Black dice's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Black dice sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Dice asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Black dice against 4.9 for Dice. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dice has 68 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Black dice ships an update every 9 months, Dice fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
