# The Bosses vs Ghost face detector

The clearest difference is rating: The Bosses at 4.8 against Ghost face detector's 3.9. The Bosses also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 17 months) and ratings volume (1.6K vs 14). Ghost face detector's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 15) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Bosses sells 15 one-off in-app purchases. Ghost face detector asks for nothing beyond the download.

The Bosses holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Bosses has 1.6K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 92% of The Bosses's written reviews are positive against 100% of Ghost face detector's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Bosses ships an update every 2 weeks, Ghost face detector every 17 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
