# 1Password vs The Aster

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: The Aster at none against 1Password's 6. The Aster also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 18.0). 1Password's advantage is ratings volume (45K vs 1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 1Password sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. The Aster asks for nothing beyond the download.

The Aster holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 1Password has 45K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

1Password ships an update fortnightly, The Aster every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
