# StepSense vs Runners Roost

The clearest difference is rating: Runners Roost at 5.0 against StepSense's 3.6. StepSense's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (14 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Runners Roost holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StepSense has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

StepSense ships an update fortnightly, Runners Roost every 14 months. Both last shipped on October 7, 2026.
