# Magic FX vs GIF Maker

Magic FX and GIF Maker both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of GIF Maker's written reviews are positive against 18% of Magic FX's. GIF Maker also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly). Magic FX's advantage is ratings volume (3.3K vs 7). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Magic FX sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and GIF Maker sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Magic FX against 4.4 for GIF Maker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Magic FX has 3.3K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 18% of Magic FX's written reviews are positive against 100% of GIF Maker's.

Magic FX ships an update monthly, GIF Maker every 3 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
