# PDF Hero vs PDF Scanner Document

The clearest difference is review sentiment: PDF Scanner Document at 100% against PDF Hero's 18%. PDF Hero's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (10K vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Hero sells 20 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and PDF Scanner Document sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Hero holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Hero has 10K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of PDF Hero's written reviews are positive against 100% of PDF Scanner Document's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PDF Hero ships an update every 3 weeks, PDF Scanner Document fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
