The clearest difference is ads: Smartring at none against BuddyWave's shown. Smartring also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). BuddyWave's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 weeks). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Smartring ships an update every 2 weeks, BuddyWave weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
