# Fancy Fonts vs MapNotes

The clearest difference is rating: Fancy Fonts at 4.6 against MapNotes's 4.0. Fancy Fonts also leads on ratings volume (373 vs 4). MapNotes's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fancy Fonts sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and MapNotes sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $39.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Fancy Fonts holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fancy Fonts has 373 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Fancy Fonts ships an update every 2 months, MapNotes weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
