# Smart Eye App vs Online Shield

The clearest difference is monetization model: Smart Eye App at free with in-app purchases against Online Shield's subscription. Smart Eye App also leads on review sentiment (91% vs 55%) and ads (none vs shown). Online Shield's advantage is ratings volume (8K vs 47) and rating (4.5 vs 4.3). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smart Eye App sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Online Shield sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Online Shield holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Online Shield has 8K ratings behind it against 47, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 91% of Smart Eye App's written reviews are positive against 55% of Online Shield's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
