# HotShield VPN vs Bee VPN

The clearest difference is ads: Bee VPN at none against HotShield VPN's shown. Bee VPN also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 38 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). HotShield VPN's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HotShield VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days and Bee VPN sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Bee VPN holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HotShield VPN has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HotShield VPN ships an update every 38 months, Bee VPN every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
