# AppBlock vs Focus Lock

The clearest difference is ads: Focus Lock at none against AppBlock's shown. Focus Lock also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). AppBlock's advantage is ratings volume (6.9K vs 1) and chart position (#198 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AppBlock sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Focus Lock sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Focus Lock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AppBlock has 6.9K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

AppBlock ships an update weekly, Focus Lock every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
