# SmarTrip vs CARXI

The clearest difference is rating: CARXI at 5.0 against SmarTrip's 2.5. CARXI also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 5 months) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). SmarTrip's advantage is ratings volume (57 vs 2) and chart position (#197 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CARXI holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SmarTrip has 57 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SmarTrip ships an update every 5 months, CARXI every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
