# DOTEC vs iMSX2

The clearest difference is rating: DOTEC at 5.0 against iMSX2's 3.4. DOTEC also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). iMSX2's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 16 months) and price ($1.99 vs $7.99). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

DOTEC costs $7.99 and iMSX2 $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

DOTEC holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: iMSX2 has 10 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of DOTEC's written reviews are positive against 59% of iMSX2's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DOTEC ships an update every 16 months, iMSX2 every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
