# Avast Secure Browser vs Fast Private Internet Browser

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Fast Private Internet Browser at none against Avast Secure Browser's 11. Avast Secure Browser's advantage is ratings volume (2.1K vs 65) and review sentiment (79% vs 67%). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Avast Secure Browser sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Fast Private Internet Browser asks for nothing beyond the download.

Fast Private Internet Browser holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Avast Secure Browser has 2.1K ratings behind it against 65, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Avast Secure Browser's written reviews are positive against 67% of Fast Private Internet Browser's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Avast Secure Browser ships an update every 5 weeks, Fast Private Internet Browser every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
