# MidcoTV vs Sparklight TV

The clearest difference is monetization model: MidcoTV at ad-supported against Sparklight TV's subscription. Sparklight TV's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (2.0 vs 1.7). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Sparklight TV holds the better App Store score, 2.0 against 1.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 72 and 74 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 7% of MidcoTV's written reviews are positive against 4% of Sparklight TV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MidcoTV ships an update every 12 months, Sparklight TV every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
