# Yu vs Phantom Countdown

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Yu at none against Phantom Countdown's 5. Yu also leads on ratings volume (2.9K vs 278) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Phantom Countdown's advantage is review sentiment (83% vs 64%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Phantom Countdown sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Yu asks for nothing beyond the download.

Yu holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Yu has 2.9K ratings behind it against 278, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Yu's written reviews are positive against 83% of Phantom Countdown's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Yu ships an update every 5 weeks, Phantom Countdown every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
