# Leaf Journal vs Meals

The clearest difference is update cadence: Meals at monthly against Leaf Journal's every 3 months. Meals also leads on iOS requirement (13.2 vs 17.0). Leaf Journal's advantage is ratings volume (96 vs 16). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Leaf Journal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month and Meals sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Leaf Journal against 4.5 for Meals. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Leaf Journal has 96 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Leaf Journal ships an update every 3 months, Meals monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
