# Anylocal vs Mastodon

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Mastodon at none against Anylocal's 10. Mastodon also leads on ratings volume (13K vs 2). Anylocal's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Anylocal sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Mastodon asks for nothing beyond the download.

Anylocal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mastodon has 13K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Anylocal ships an update weekly, Mastodon monthly. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
