# EnginPrep vs Mechanical Formula

The clearest difference is review sentiment: EnginPrep at 62% against Mechanical Formula's 0%. EnginPrep also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (192 vs 34). Mechanical Formula's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. EnginPrep sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Mechanical Formula sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mechanical Formula holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EnginPrep has 192 ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of EnginPrep's written reviews are positive against 0% of Mechanical Formula's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

EnginPrep ships an update every 3 weeks, Mechanical Formula every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
