# EnginPrep vs Material Engineering

The clearest difference is rating: Material Engineering at 5.0 against EnginPrep's 4.4. EnginPrep's advantage is ratings volume (192 vs 2) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. EnginPrep sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Material Engineering sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Material Engineering holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EnginPrep has 192 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

EnginPrep ships an update every 3 weeks, Material Engineering every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
